What is the service scope of SPEA?

The purpose of SPEA is to help our non-residential customers identify energy saving opportunities for improving energy efficiency at their business premises. Our service will cover on-site inspection, analysis of energy efficiency performance, identification of energy saving opportunities and submission of report on findings and recommendations.

Shall I pay for the SPEA service?

SPEA service provided by HK Electric is free of charge.

Who is eligible to apply SPEA?

Application for SPEA will only be considered if:
1. the applicant is a HK Electric's non-residential customer; and
2. the premises applied to be audited are not prescribed under the Building Energy Efficiency Ordinance ("BEEO"), unless
i. the total floor area is less than or equal to 15,000 m²; and
ii. no energy audit was conducted on the premises during the 5 years before the date of the application.

Will SPEA have any priority in accepting application?

Yes, priority will always be given to:
1. applicants with fewer resources; and/or
2. premises which are not prescribed under the BEEO; and/or
3. for premises on which energy audits have not been conducted before.

How can I submit my SPEA application?

You can return the application form to us via either one of the following ways:
1. online application (www.hkelectric.com/SPEA-en or HK Electric Low Carbon App); or
2. email to SPEA@hkelectric.com; or
3. by post to Head of Customer Business Development, Customer Services Division, 4/F, Hongkong Electric Centre, 44 Kennedy Road, Hong Kong.

How long will it take to carry out on-site audit?

It depends on the floor area of the premises to be audited and the nature of customer business operation.

Is it compulsory for me to implement the energy saving opportunities or recommendations mentioned in the energy audit report?

No, the energy saving opportunities or recommendations listed in the energy audit report is for your reference only. It is at the sole discretion of the customers to implement those recommended measures. If you implement any of them in the future, you are required to notify and allow us to carry out on-site verification for the implemented measures.
