The HK Electric Institute was established in 2014 with the following objectives:
- To provide high quality and sustainable training programmes on advanced power system engineering, information technology, commercial procedures and operations, customer services, regulatory compliance, engineering management systems and frontier technologies, etc. to our employees;
- To facilitate self-directed learning and knowledge management through e-learning and the provision of digitalised knowledge repositories;
- To provide collaborative platforms for the power industry, the academia and the Government, etc. to promote power engineering education;
- To prepare proactively for succession planning, including retirement of experienced staff and the challenge of attracting/retaining talents;
- To attract more talents to join our Company.
As part of our knowledge management initiatives to leverage on the experiences and knowledge of experts in power engineering, our current staff members and external experts including retirees who are subject masters of specific topics of power technology are invited as honorary lecturers of the Institute to deliver lectures and training workshops.
