Solar Power System

HK Electric has built one of the city's largest commercial-scale solar power systems with a generating capacity of 1 MW, the system comprises 5,500 amorphous silicon and 3,162 amorphous/microcrystalline silicon tandem junction TFPV modules.  Compared with conventional crystalline silicon modules, amorphous silicon thin film modules consume less silicon in the production process and are more environmentally friendly. With better performance under high temperatures and low irradiance, they are also more efficient and cost-effective.

The solar power system is expected to generate 1,100,000 units of electricity annually. The power generated is fed directly to HK Electric's 380V electrical system. To maximise power output, all panels are set to face south and are inclined at 22 degrees.  Please click real-time operation to have a look of the TFPV installation and its real time performance data.
