Corporate Philanthropy

Corporate Philanthropy - Donations and Sponsorships

HK Electric donates to numerous charitable and non-profit-making organisations, and sponsors meaningful projects to benefit the community and people from all walks of life. These include programmes in support of charity, education, disaster relief, community well-being and environmental protection, etc.

On top of making corporate donations, the Company also encourages its staff to donate for charity through supporting fund-raising initiatives such as the Community Chest's Walks for Millions, Employee Contribution Programme, Skip Lunch Day, Dress Casual Day, etc.

HK Electric Centenary Trust

The HK Electric Centenary Trust provides financial support to secondary school students and elderly services. Since its establishment in 1990 to commemorate the Company's 100th year of service in Hong Kong, the trust has been giving out scholarships via the Government's Student Financial Assistance Agency to secondary school students with outstanding academic performance and in need of financial aid.

The trust also provides funding to support the U3A Network of Hong Kong to encourage local retirees to pursue life-long learning and volunteerism.

Lamma Trust

The Lamma Trust was established to improve the environment and other facilities on Lamma Island where our Lamma Power Station and Lamma Winds are situated. It has supported the construction of two pavilions in Southern Lamma; the extension of the Mou Tat Wan pier; the reconstruction of a country trail near Hung Shing Ye beach, and the redevelopment of the Tin Hau Temple in Sok Kwu Wan.
